Canadian 70s Rock Band ‘Lighthouse’ To Kick Off Niagara Concerts’ 2015-16 Concert Series at the Scotiabank Convention Centre on September 25, 2015

Wednesday, September 9, 2015 (Niagara Falls, Ontario) – With catchy, classic songs like ‘One Fine Morning’ (1971), ‘Sunny Days’ (1972), and ‘Pretty Lady’ (1973), Lighthouse has a sound that many Canadians associate with the carefree days of their youth. Affectionately known as ‘Canada’s Band’, Lighthouse will be playing these and other classic songs when they come to Niagara Falls to kick off Niagara Concerts’ 2015-16 Concert Series at the Scotiabank Convention Centre on Friday, September 25, 2015.

Lighthouse formed in 1968 in Toronto on the premise of creating a rock orchestra. Combining the sounds of horns, string instruments, and vibraphone, they created music that reflected elements of rock music, jazz, classical music, and swing giving band members the flexibility to play any genre they wanted. This approach resonated with Canadians and the music industry.

Lighthouse won Juno Awards for Best Canadian Group of the Year in 1972, 1973 and 1974. But their appeal did not diminish in the 1970s. Lighthouse has not only sustained an enthusiastic following but they reignited it years later with a new studio album, Song of the Ages, in 1996. They continue to perform and tour extensively across Canada, building their reputation as one of the most exciting and dynamic live bands on the road. And Canadians are fiercely proud of them. Whether experiencing their show for the first time or attending to relive the memory of a less complicated time, audiences will be in for a great evening of music. And that is just the beginning.

“We have a great set of artists lined up for this year’s concert series,” says Elizabeth Detlor, Niagara Concerts President. “Every year we manage to bring incredible talent from all parts of the musical spectrum, and this year is no exception. From Lighthouse’s classic rock sounds, Lunch at Allen’s unique blend of folk, country and pop, Matt Dusk’s jazzy crooner style, The Leahy’s Celtic/East Coast rhythms to the cool and hip R&B tunes from Jarvis Church, we have something for anyone who loves great music and live performances.”

For the 2015-16 Concert Series, Niagara Concerts sought to not only create an exciting musical line-up for Niagara music lovers, but also to improve the experience of its subscribers and single ticket buyers. A partnership with the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls has resulted in a smoother and user-friendly purchase process for everyone. In addition to the convenience of being able to purchase tickets online or directly by phone, individuals may choose their seats for the entire concert series. “The convention centre and its staff of experienced professionals are fully equipped to realize Niagara Concerts’ vision and commitment of bringing to the region the kind of quality entertainment our subscribers have come to expect,” adds Elizabeth.
