Scotiabank Convention Centre welcomes regional business leaders for the Niagara Economic Summit on May 9th
Niagara Falls, Ontario (May 8, 2012) – Building a stronger Niagara will be the main focus of the Niagara Economic Summit (NES), a leadership initiative facilitated by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce in partnership with local chambers of commerce and regional businesses. The NES will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Scotiabank Convention Centre, in Niagara Falls (SCCN).
“The [Niagara] Economic Summit will be focused on building a strong, robust and diverse economy in Niagara that can power the future prosperity for the community,” said Mike Watt, Chair of the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce. “When the decision was made to hold the Niagara Economic Summit we knew that the [Scotiabank] Convention Centre would be the natural choice for hosting a meeting of this magnitude. Since its official opening in April 2011, the Centre has been a true service and career provider for hundreds of civilians within the community,” added Mr. Watt.
The one day event will feature a number of forums which will discuss a variety of business topics. The event aims at creating a positive and constructive environment, giving voice to local business leaders desiring an exchange of ideas for laying out a blueprint towards the building of a stronger and prosperous economy in Niagara.
“It gives us great pride to be hosting the [Niagara] Economic Summit,” said Kerry Painter, President & General Manager of the SCCN, Niagara’s largest meetings and conventions facility. On the positive impact the massive 280,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art facility has brought the region, she adds: “The SCCN stands as a prime example of what business leaders can achieve when planning a bold path towards a stronger and prosperous Niagara. Since our grand opening on April 2011, we have welcomed hundreds of thousands of guests and visitors, which we estimate has brought the local economy an additional $7.7 million dollars.”
